Having personally experienced the journey from Curious Seeker to New Believer—and having observed the same patterns unfold in the lives of many others who have eventually come to know Christ—allow me to share with you a process I’ve witnessed time and time again:
1. Some individuals become curious about God, religion, morality, or related topics. After a season (or two) of reading, studying, and pondering, they turn to Christ and begin pursuing Him with all their heart and soul—and they find Him.
2. Others feel “the call of God’s Spirit” and begin an immediate pursuit. Many of them find Him quickly!
3. Some go through one or more intense seasons of struggle and inner conflict. Only after this wrestling do they finally submit to His Lordship—and find Him.
4. And still others hear about the goodness of God just once—and pursue Him passionately from that moment forward!
Curious Seekers are individuals whose hearts and minds God has gently stirred—often using people and circumstances—to grab their attention. Their pursuit of information, truth, and meaning represents a sincere search, often filled with questions like:
- Does God exist?
- And if He does, does He know or care about me?
Based on what I’ve seen, what I’ve personally experienced, and what I’ve read and studied, I am fully convinced that all sincere Curious Seekers eventually find Christ.
How can I be so sure?
Consider These Thoughts
ONE: In all my pride, ignorance, and stubbornness, I still found Christ. And I wouldn’t trade my relationship with Him for anything in the world. (Yes—you could deposit 10 trillion dollars into my bank account right now, buy me 1000 vacation homes, give me 1,000 memberships at private golf courses around the world, and even send me back in time to when I was 18 years old—and still, I would confidently and gladly turn it all down! That’s how much my relationship with Christ means to me.)
TWO: The Scriptures promise us that sincere seekers will find God:
- “But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.” —Deuteronomy 4:29
- “Blessed are those who keep His statutes and seek Him with all their heart.” —Psalm 119:2
- “I love those who love Me, and those who seek Me find Me.” —Proverbs 8:17- “Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near.” —Isaiah 55:6
- “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” —Hebrews 11:6
- “You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.” —Jeremiah 29:13
- “Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near.” —Isaiah 55:6
- “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” —Hebrews 11:6
THREE: I’ve had the joy of helping others find Christ. I’ve watched it happen—up close and personal. Some of these individuals were atheists. Others were agnostics. Still others were Muslims, Buddhists, and followers of other religious systems.
To Be Perfectly Clear
Jesus Christ is real—as real as a brisk slap to the face or a tall glass of cold ice tea on a hot summer day! And a genuine, life-changing relationship with Him is available to every person! All it takes is humility, a willingness to pursue truth, and the sincere desire to ask for forgiveness and invite Him into your daily life.
To me, Curious Seekers are individuals who have already begun their journey. What sets them apart from the argumentative or the casually curious is their mindset, attitude, and sincerity. Their desire is to find and begin a relationship with God through Christ!
The articles in this section were written to help Curious Seekers on their path—so they might encounter and truly come to know the One they’re seeking: Jesus Christ.
